What is accessibility testing?

Accessibility testing evaluates whether a digital product can be used by people with disabilities, measured against standards such as WCAG 2.2 Level AA, Section 508 and the ADA. It combines automated scanning for machine-detectable issues with manual auditing and testing using real assistive technology — screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification and voice control. Automated tools catch roughly a third of accessibility barriers, so a credible accessibility audit always includes human testing alongside the scan.

Scope

What an accessibility audit covers

WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA conformance across every template and critical journey

Section 508 and ADA-relevant conformance reporting

Screen-reader testing with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver

Keyboard-only navigation, focus order and visible focus states

Colour contrast, text resizing, reflow and zoom to 400%

Forms, error messaging, labels and ARIA implementation

Automated regression checks with axe-core and Pa11y in your pipeline

Deliverables

Findings your developers can actually fix

Every issue arrives mapped to the specific WCAG success criterion it fails, with the affected element, the user impact, a severity rating and a concrete code-level recommendation.

We also deliver an accessibility conformance report suitable for procurement and legal review, plus automated checks added to CI so fixed issues stay fixed.

Why it matters

Accessibility is a business case

01

Legal exposure

ADA-related digital accessibility lawsuits continue to rise year on year in the United States, and most target ordinary commercial websites.

02

Market reach

Roughly one in four US adults lives with a disability. Inaccessible flows quietly exclude a substantial share of your addressable market.

03

Better for everyone

Clear focus states, sensible contrast and proper labels measurably improve completion rates for all users, not only assistive-technology users.

Useful answers

Questions,

Accessibility testing checks whether people with disabilities can use your product, measured against WCAG 2.2, Section 508 and ADA expectations, using a mix of automated scanning, manual audit and assistive-technology testing.

No. Automated tools reliably detect only a minority of accessibility barriers — typically around a third. Issues like meaningless alt text, illogical focus order or unusable custom widgets require a human tester with a screen reader.

WCAG 2.2 is the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines standard. Level AA is the conformance level referenced by most legislation and procurement policies, and is the practical target for commercial products.

Yes. WCAG applies to mobile applications, and both iOS and Android provide platform accessibility APIs that apps are expected to support. We test mobile apps with VoiceOver and TalkBack.

A prioritised issue list mapped to WCAG success criteria with code-level remediation guidance, an accessibility conformance report for procurement, and automated checks added to your CI pipeline.

Yes. Our design team handles accessible design remediation, and we pair with your developers on implementation and re-testing after fixes land.
